AB Control systems and instrumentation used in the fermentation process industries have been improved substantially over the last decade. This paper will survey the historical trend in such systems from early analog devices to the latest microprocessor based interactive distributed control systems. Special emphasis will be given to modern digital monitors and controllers specifically designed for fermentation processes.
