AB  - Water packaged in three different types of 10-ml serum vials and sealed with a butyl rubber closure was exposed to extended steam autoclave cycles and high temperature storage. The results of the tests show a reduction in pH values and an increase in a UV absorbance that is dependent on time and temperature. The final pH of the water after storage may be the result of an interaction between glass and rubber extractives.
