AB Selection of people continues today to be critical to the success of an organization and the individual manager. As managers, all of us are striving to become more efficient, to reduce costs, to decrease turnover, and to have a more satisfied workforce. One of the best ways to reach these goals is through effective selection of people, and the interview is the key tool most managers depend on to assure successful selection decisions. This paper highlights ideas developed through the author ’ s experience and the experience of others, as well as through research in both the academic and corporate environments. Practical techniques are presented to aid managers in improving their performance in identifying superior professional people via the employment interview.
