AB  - The evolution of the Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) test as a rapid, sensitive, relatively simple test for bacterial endotoxins has resulted in considerable interest in its use as a test for pyrogens in parenteral products. This presentation provides an overview of the Canadian industry, the organization of the Health Protection Branch, and the regulation of pharmaceuticals in Canada, with particular emphasis on our policies related to the LAL test.
