Stability was determined with the use of high performance liquid chromatography. All compounds tested appeared to be stable in 5% dextrose and 3.3% dextrose-0.3% sodium chloride solutions, during a 28 days’ incubation period at 25°C in the dark. When doxorubicin and its 4′-cogeners are stored in Lactated Ringer’s or 0.9% sodium chloride injection considerable degradation occurs. t90 values are presented. Degradation products could be traced by means of thin layer chromatography. Daunorubicin and 4-demethoxy-daunorubicin are apparently stable in Lactated Ringer’s and 0.9% sodium chloride injection.
