This model combines the plate theory of chromatographic processes, and the statistical approach for their accounting. Using numerical simulation, it has been applied to assess the sensitivity of BAC processes to the operational parameters involved. The combined model provides a simple yet efficient tool for the design and construction of BAC systems. The results obtained also suggest a noval approach for improving the separation of complex, multiligate mixtures. This approach involves a chromatographic system built to contain a ligand concentration gradient, and it can be conveniently implemented by using a series of columns of increasing ligand concentration.
