AB This study aims to investigate the causes of different sources of weight variation of capsules and thereby to suggest a suitable control scheme to improve productivity in a pharmaceutical industry. Data are analysed, using the capsule filling process, under a mixed effect cross-nested model. The process capabilities are estimated using Clements’ method followed by developing a routine setting and control procedure.
