↵a This table examines the ratio between the minimum BP specification of the 0.2 μm filters for which bacterial challenge test (BCT) data were compiled, and the corresponding (same filter membrane material) 0.45 μm filter from the same manufacturer. Column 1 lists the 0.2 μm membrane types for which BCT BPs were available. Columns 2 and 3 list the minimum BP specifications for the corresponding 0.45 μm and 0.2 μm filter membranes, respectively. Column 4 lists the ratio between these two BP specifications. Column 5 lists the number of standard deviations (sd) above the mean BP ratio for all data (see Row 1 in Table VII) at which the BP specification ratio falls. Column 6 gives the percentile in the full data set at which the BP specification ratio falls, i.e., the percent of all BP ratios falling below this ratio. The last column is 100 − Column 6, which represents the % probability for each membrane type that the BP ratio for a given test could raise the BP of a filter from the minimum BP of a 0.45 μm filter to the minimum BP of a 0.2 μm filter.
↵b Membrane types are: CA, cellulose acetate; PA, polyamide; PES, polyethersulfone; PVDF, polyvinylidene fluoride. Numerical suffixes refer to different manufacturers.
