Incubation Conditions Examined in the Present Study
Sample Type | Atmosphere | Medium | Temperature/Time |
---|---|---|---|
Air and inanimate surfaces | Aerobic | TSA | 5–6 days at 20–25 °C then 2–3 days at 30–35 °C1 |
7 days at 25–30 °C | |||
3 days at 30–35 °C | |||
Aerobic | SDA | 7 days at 20–25 °C | |
Personnel | Aerobic | TSA | 5–6 days at 20–25 °C then 2–3 days at 30–35 °C1 |
7 days at 30–35 °C | |||
Anaerobic | TSA | 5–6 days at 20-25 °C then 2–3 days at 30–35 °C1 | |
7 days at 30–35 °C |
↵1 In a preliminary study with a similar experimental setup, we observed very low mould recovery if samples were incubated at 30–35 °C first in the two-tiered incubation scheme (Figure 5). Therefore, this approach was no longer pursued in the main study.
