The nonprofit Parenteral Drug Association, founded in 1946, established its scientific journal in 1947. Originally called the Bulletin of the Parenteral Drug Association, the PDA Journal of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (PDA JPST) is the oldest member-benefit publication offered by PDA.
Over 20,000 professionals have free access to JPST, either through their PDA membership or through their institution's subscription.
Content
PDA JPST is the primary source of peer-reviewed scientific and technical papers on topics related to pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical manufacturing, sterile product production, aseptic processing, pharmaceutical microbiology, quality, packaging science, and other topics relevant to PDA members. PDA JPST is an internationally recognized source that receives over a quarter of a million visitors annually.
PDA JPST accepts a variety of article types.
PDA JPST publishes six times a year on the last day of each odd month (Jan., Mar., May, Jul., Sept., Nov.). “Accepted Articles” — unedited, unformatted versions of peer-reviewed articles that have been accepted for publication — publish monthly around the middle of each month.
Vision

Each year, the editors of PDA JPST select the Frederick D. Simon Paper of the Year.
Access
All active PDA members receive a free license to access the two most current volume years of PDA JPST as part of their member benefits. This license allows members to download all articles and save them to their computers for perpetual access. Annual access to the archives is also available for an additional fee.
The PDA JPST is also available by subscription to industry, university, and public libraries, as well as to government agencies. Nonmembers can access articles, too.
History
In 2008, the bimonthly PDA JPST began being published exclusively online. In 2009, PDA launched a new website for the Journal in partnership with HighWire Press, Inc. An online submission and review tool, BenchPress (also owned by HighWire Press, Inc.), was added in 2011.
