Abstract
A unique heating cell designed to provide precise control of heat input to samples of Escherichia coli endotoxin in Type I glass capillary tubes is described. The thermal properties of the heating cell were studied. Methodology to charge the capillary tubes with endotoxin and recover the endotoxin for assay were developed. Initial endotoxin destruction data at 170 °C show a 5 log reduction in the amount of endotoxin in approximately 1200 minutes.
